How do I generate a pdf file?
There are different ways a PDF file to create.

1. The best and safest way from professional layout programmes to grenerate a PDF file is a PostScript file. If you print or export a *.ps file with the PPD Adobe PDF (including in the Acrobat Distiller) and convert this with the Acrobat Distiller under use of the default PrePress quality into a PDF.

2. Many layout programmes like InDesign, QuarkXpress and CorelDraw support a direct PDF export. Important settings are: All fonts embed (in Corel even better: All fonts into curves convert), picture resolution with colour and grey scales 300 dpi and Bitmap 1200 dpi, colour space: Euroscale Coated.

3. About add-in programs like PDF Writer. Against this variation is to be advised, because as a rule qualitatively bad PDFs are generated. Nevertheless, the same settings are also valid here like with dot 2.

Fiducial marks, crop marks, etc.

In the creation of an PS or PDF file in an professional layout programm you have the chance to
add different marks and help signs. Please, 2 mm of bleed and edge marks set.

Addition of bleed serves as an elbowroom for edge differences. Fonts and important information like logos, addresses, texts, etc. which may not be cut must be placed at least 4 mm by the margin of the final format. Please, renounce formative white or coloured edges or Outlines. This is valid for all products of our offer.

If the customer transmits the printing data in the final format (without bleed) to us, these are automatically customised. Correcting your data remains under circumstances to our specialists leave. Note please that we always in your sense act. A relevant change of the layout is to be accepted by the customer. The same is true if the data from the customer with white bleed.

Paper is a natural material by environmental factors like temperature and humidity by certain variations is defeated. Hence, maybe by the final cutting it can come to divergence from up to 1 mm. Please, note that these edge differences can also affect the feather edge.

What must I note in data for a brochure?

The pages may become not before imposing, but must be put on consecutively as single pages (1,2,3,4). Brochures can be accepted only in the PDF format. The pamphlets must have the right page format (enlargement / reduction is not possible). In the file please only crop marks and 3 mm bleed. Fonts must be correctly integrated. Please, pay attention to right over printing with black text. To your own security we recommend to raise page numbers. With missing page numbers no guarantee can be taken over for a right page sequence.

CMYK
We recommend to you to put your printing data in the colour mode CMYK. Data RGB as well as all special colours (if orders 4-coloured) are converted with the US the WEB Coated V2 automatically into the colour space CMYK. Embedded colour profiles are rejected. Besides, it can come for colour movements.

The maximum whole colour order C+M+Y+K of your picture data should not cross 300%. An excess of the recommended colour order can entail "pulling" or sticking together. Relevant complaints cannot be recognised. (Info: To display a full black 100% of black portion and 50% Cyan portion are enough. This is valid in particular for full surfaces and largely illustrated fonts).

Because different types of paper take up colour differently, the colour rendering can differ optically. (e.g. letter paper (offset paper) and buisness cards (picture printing paper).

PDF files
At PDF files all fonts must be converted into paths or be embedded completely (no sub-groups, incl. standard fonts). If this is not the case in a PDF, it can seem that themselves line ends can move, additional characters and umlauts can be lost or are replaced. Pay attention also to the fact that the blank are correctly converted. Besides, it is advisable to put black text in 100% of black, because a merged black which is based from several printing inks generates a squalid typeface.

With the data check your printing data are checked by our specialists according to following criteria. Should we ascertain no errors with the data check or we can correct small errors, you receive no other message from us. Only by non-usability of the printing data we will contact you (as a rule by e-mail) and tune the other action with you.

Image resolution
The picture resolution should amount 300dpi (with original dimension of picture area). If we ascertain in the check of your printing data a lower resolution than 200dpi, we will contact you and request if necessary for new printing data.

Size/Bleed
It is checked whether the format transmitted by you with the ordered agrees. Besides, it is controlled whether the Bleed are enough to guarantee that no important information is truncated.

Fonts
It is checked whether converts all character fonts in your PDF file into paths/curves, or whether these are embedded completely.
